Everyone sit the fuck down. I don’t care if you are a fan of Sherlock, or a fan of old fashion Holmes, or a fan of Elementary, hell if you’re a fan of some sort of indie Holmes adapt about aliens, sit the fuck down too.
I have your attention? Good.
First off, about me.
-I like Sherlock
- I will give Elementary a shot
-I watch Granada Holmes
-I watched the American movies
-I read the books.
And you know what? I don’t give a flying fuck about any adaptations. Not a single fuck.
You know why? First off, I know the creator would give no fucks and he is the only one I think has a say in this matter. No seriously, ACD hated Holmes. He was quoted to say roughly “I don’t care what the fuck you do with him.”
Okay so now that the ACD point is out of the way let’s move on, shall we?
You know why I don’t care if someone were to make an adaptation about Holmes and Watson being mermaids? Because it’s none of my business. No one is going to make me watch the damn thing. Sure, I don’t have to approve of it, but that doesn’t mean I can go yell at people who like Sherlock and Watson solving cases under the sea because that would be childish of me.
Yes, childish. You heard it here. You lot are being childish.
I can say this with merit, too. Because the only other place I’ve seen people talk like this about this and get fussed about things that don’t directly offend them is on writing sites where groups of 12 year olds flock and write bad poetry. Seriously, that is the only place I have ever seen this fuckery.
You are pretty much doing this.
“Cupcakes were first made with red velvet, so having chocolate ones is wrong”
“Well, some the people who eat vanilla ones are dicks, and I don’t like vanilla, so clearly having chocolate ones is the right path to appeasing the true spirit of red velvet cupcakes.”
“I like red velvet you fuckers. Have you even had red velvet? YOU KNOW NOTHING”
Silly right? Well look what happens when I sub in.
“Sherlock was first made with Watson as a man, so having him as a woman is wrong”
“Well, some the people who like Sherlock are dicks, and I don’t like Sherlock, so clearly watching Elementary is the right path to appeasing the true spirit of ACD’s books.”
“I like ACD you fuckers. Have you even read ACD? YOU KNOW NOTHING. HE WOULD BE-
Are you all five? Who gives a fuck if someone likes something you don’t? Stop wasting your time clogging up other’s tags with your hate, enjoy your own shows. I can’t understand why you guys need to be fucking told this. Elementary, don’t hate on Sherlock. Sherlock don’t hate on Elementary (also you’ve never seen it so extra boo to you). Any other Sherlock fandoms, don’t be asshats.
So yes. Play nice. Keep hate off each other’s tags. And
Stop being wankers.
Thank you and good night.
(Credit to rockinjanelle for giving me the idea for this rant)
(But guys, I mean it)
“But don’t think for one second, I’m one of them’
I adore this quote
Don’t mind me.
Not like I have other things to do than wait.
Though if anyone would be so kind to get on that, I would be thankful.
PLEASE?!?!?!?!? I’M DYING, BECAUSE I’M NOT ALLOWED TO WATCH IT!!!!!!! :’O
SHERLOCK HOLMES FANDOM (RE)READ 2011 WIP POST
All right, guys. Here’s the deal. I just made a post about how I’d love to get the entire BBC Sherlock fandom- many of whom haven’t gotten the chance to read some of the canon material- talking about a few selected writings on tumblr at the same time. The point of this isn’t me or anyone else being snobbish, but rather giving everyone a chance to experience the wonderful original works. In my opinion, it gives one a better understanding of the show- after all, Moff and Gatiss are huge fans of the stories.
The idea here is that anyone can read these stories, roughly at any time, but that people would devote a few hours each week to making their way through the reading list. It’s not a homework assignment, after all, but more for discussion purposes. And feel free to discuss, add, or remove ideas as this post circulates! Although there are many ways to access these stories- book, ebook, audiobook, ect- an online source from http://www.sherlockian.net/canon/ is listed with each. Feel free to add your own sources.
- A Study in Scarlet (novel; the first meeting of Holmes and Watson, and what ‘A Study in Pink’) is loosely based upon. http://literaturepost.com/chapter/4040.html,
- The Hound of the Baskervilles (novel; the second episode of season two will be based on this) http://classiclit.about.com/library/bl-etexts/acdoyle/bl-acdoyle-hound-1.htm
- A Scandal in Bohemia (SHORT STORY, THE FIRST EPISODE OF SEASON TWO WILL BE BASED ON THIS, AND YOU SHOULD ALL READ IT BECAUSE OF REASONS) http://www.pagebypagebooks.com/Arthur_Conan_Doyle/The_Adventures_of_Sherlock_Holmes/ADVENTURE_I_A_SCANDAL_IN_BOHEMIA_p1.html
- The Final Problem (short story; episode three of Season Two will based on this) http://sherlockholmes_cases.tripod.com/finprob.htm
- The Empty House (Holmes’ return to Watson after his long absence, and an excellent story on all accounts.) http://webpages.charter.net/lklinger/empt.htm
So there you have it, guys! Please, feel free to ad to this post! I haven’t added dates yet because I’d like to see how everyone reacts to this idea. Should we read both novels? Or should I include more short stories? Let me know, and PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST TO GET THE WORD OUT!
I always support reading. To my kindle!
After I finish the stupid scarlet letter
I’m really not going to take part in this argument about tv show breaks unless it’s length (like months or days. Those are facts)
The truth is, hellatus (to quote the Supernatural fandom) is painful no matter how long. I’m not pissed at Glee people. Waiting for them must have been horrible. Just like waiting for Supernatural (3 DAYS) is horrible. Or waiting for Sherlock (I LOST COUNT) is horrible.
So there really is no arguing here. At least not in my point of view. So have fun those who tv shows are back. Those who aren’t be happy for them.
Those who are waiting keep calm and carry on. And maybe those who have their shows back can give us a cheer up as well.
It’s painful guys. PAINFUL
So will Doctor Who! Ahh Sherlock Pain!
I forgot about the Doctor as well!
It’s painful guys. PAINFUL
